trying to get thru a B+ issue thats making me nuts. on the bench, im trying to work the B+ with the HOT transistor disconnected so i dont get zapped. with no load, im getting 160v at the test point, and the same at the Q901 collector. if i load the test point with a 25 watt bulb, its 130, and the pot does nothing. first, is 25 watts enough of a load, or do i need more ? the pot is new, Q901 new, ic601 new. ive checked all over the 600 section, and cant find anything, but i might be missing something. i know there are fake ic601s , but my guy has always been reliable, but who knows. im really hitting a wall here. with the hot connected, and hooked to a crt, the B+ was 88, and not adjustable . the hot and flyback have been changed, no help. i dont see any board cracks, and ive looked hard.

thanks

update

all the voltages on ic601 are about 20-25 volts low. the large 20 watt resistor checks out at 180 ohm, but gets very hot, very fast. one side of the resistor is 140, the other 88, which is what i get from the b+ test point. this is all with a 40 watt load and the hot disconnected.

thanks

I had a 20EZ drive me nuts with B+ problems once.... turns out it was a 1uF capacitor in the B+ regulation circuit. I was using an older cap kit that had not included it. Changed that out, and it worked fine. Wasted hours on that one :)
