Sanyo 20EZ Wavy screen after C606 replaced B+ stuck on 89

just an update i fixed my sanyo i took ic601 off a parts chassis and it worked.

then got curious on the ic601's i got from bob around 1 1/2 - 2 years ago and put a socket in place of ic601 and tested all 8 that i got back then and none of them worked. so i guess he still has a bad batch if ic601's.

after testing them i put the used one i had back in and could adjust my B+ to a perfect 108vdc. so the monitor loves again yea!!.:)

so try and find them from another source and try again they all cant be bad.

I also had problems with the LA5112 that I ordered from Bob about 4 or 5 months ago. Found a parts chassis with a working one and was able to fix the Sanyo 20ez in my DK Junior. Got rid of the 'flag wave' and was able to adjust the B+ properly.

Riptor at http://www.twistywristarcade.com/10-misc-ics?p=2 is now carrying the LA5112s. I just ordered one this week for another 20ez that I am working on. Hopefully his batch is good, plus they are bit cheaper than Bob's.

Yeah Riptor a good man. I've order alot of good stuff off em. maybe I'll place an order for one as well.

Just put the one from Bob Roberts in today. It's really waving now. I added the 20EZ Deluxe caps. I had done a cap kit on this monitor before but now I've added the extra caps the regular kit didn't have. So it's waving more now and seems to have some sync issues. Cause it's stepping to one right side of the screen. Could that be the new caps? Or would you blame the IC 601? I've got a new IC 601 on the way from Riptor. I'll update when I install that.

Bob says were all nuts and never had a bad part from the manufacturer. I feel like a A hole for even bringing it up to em but only reason I did is in case their really was a problem. He said he's checked into it 5 times over the last 15 years and he's never found a problem with that part new from the factory. Said that's normally the go to for people who can't find their real problem with their electronics.

Anyhow this stupid monitor about to take a trip to the gun range and were gonna play a game of Kaboom! I'm pretty sure I'll win this time!

Don't give up hope yet. I emailed Bob about the same issue 4 or 5 months ago. Was given reasonable explanation about semiconductors not leaving factory without passing Q&A.

But when I was doing research on KLOV forums about the IC601s, I came across Dokert warning about Bob having a batch being faulty. http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=139874&highlight=Dokert+bad+IC601&page=2

I found a parts chassis and used the IC601 off of that chassis and it fixed the 'flag wave' problem and B+ is adjusting properly.

Now with this recent Sanyo 20ez that I am fixing on my Donkey Kong. I installed the IC601 that I got from Riptor the other day. And it works great, no 'flag wave' and the B+ is adjusting properly. You mentioned in another post that you have this part coming from Riptor. Get that installed and see if it stops the flag wave and your B+ is adjustable.

For the time being, as long as Riptor is carrying the LA5112ns, I will be buying from his site.

Thanks man I'll post the results with the Riptor one. If it doesn't work I'm packing it up for the Arcade Cup. Tired of pulling it.

Nope. It was like 114.00 with the Bob Roberts IC601 and 95.00 witht he Riptor one. I replaced the C606 cap with new one I had from Bob. Is it possible the B+ pot could of went bad from when I shorted Q901?

if its the old metal one maby. they were pieces of s*!%

i alwaws replace it when i do a sanyo rebuild.
