The Sanyo in my VL setup has been working fine for years. It did seem kind of dim, but the picture was good. I recently installed a switcher because my Special Forces did not want to boot. Shortly after that, I could not get it to hold vertical sync. I am glad it made it beyond my holiday party. I could have sworn that I put a cap kit in it. I did not. It did have a cap kit that was done many years ago that either did not replace all of the parts or used low-quality caps. I have done my cap kit, but I have not given it the smoke test yet. I did test all of the caps with my Sencore LC102. All but one of the Nichicon caps were nominal. One was 15% under. The off-brand caps were a different story. 4 were nominal, 4 were under and 4 were bad.

Those traces on the 20EZ board are fragile. I do not know if it was the last cap kit or me. If those caps are not solid to the bottom of the board, flexing will cause those traces to separate from the PCB. I had to fix those and clean off all of the flux. I was brave enough to stick it in the oven last night behind her back. I fired it up this morning and had to do some tuning for a proper picture. Either my Helifire does not like the other boards or my monitor is dim. I got them all to play well together and now it looks better than it did before.
