Greetings everyone,

I've searched on this but haven't turned anything up. I just acquired a fully working DKjr with a very, very nice monitor - no burn and it is amazingly clean.

However, once I've been playing on it, I notice that the screen 'pulsates' - or shakes/shimmy's - every so slightly to the background music of the game. It's not immediately noticeable, but if you watch it you'll pick up on it. Every time junior jumps or walks, you'll see it happen as well.

Given that, does anyone have any recommendations on what I need to do to fix this or what might be causing it? Would a cap kit be in order? The picture is so nice and bright otherwise....

Any help or input is greatly appreciated!!

Pulsating is usually caused by a bad filter cap C606. Might as well do a cap kit while you have the chassis out to replace C606. C606 does NOT come in the cap kit.

Thank you sir for the reply. Is there a 'map' somewhere that lists what all of the caps are and what they do... I'm new to monitors (as you can tell) and am trying to amass information on this model - I've never done a cap job, but it looks like I'm going to have to learn...

I believe the Sanyos are labeled on the back of the board what each cap is. Don't take my word on it. It's been years since I capped a Sanyo.

Sanyo EZV 19in Manual

It has a list of all the components and values, but not what they do. C606 = 470uF/160v

Yeah, Thats what I kind of figured but man, I'd pay the extra $3 to not have to get in there again.

I did a massive cap kit buy for the local arcade group and picked up a few of these for around $2.65. LMK if you need one, and I will get it to you as cheap as possible.

Offer is also extended to the OP, as I am not looking to hijack your thread.

Hey DOK,
Thanks for the offer, I still have several new ones stashed but I might take you up on that offer soon.

is this related to the problem I have with the top monitor in my PC-10 machine? periodically the entire picture would shrink down and then return to its normal size whenever certain sounds played. on a hunch I just turned the volume on that monitor all the way down and I haven't had the problem again, but of course I just have sound coming out 1 speaker now.

is this a filter cap issue or is it something I can fix with a deluxe cap kit for both the video and sound amp?

(not trying to hijack either, I'm just new to this Nintendo stuff)

also Dok, I forget, does your Mouser project for an EZV also work for an EZ? I don't remember the difference between the models. :)

Same here, Dokert - I'll file this one away and contact you when I get to the point of doing the cap kit!

Thanks!!

I am all out of the filter caps right now, but could order some if needed.

The problem could be related to the filter cap, or the audio section. I would do a deluxe rebuild kit and an audio kit as well as the filter cap while I am at it. It sounds like whatever the problem you are having is cap related. Both kits and filter cap are cheap enough that it is worth doing rather than trying to test and find the bad cap IMO.

I also do NOT have any B+ adjustment pots, but IIRC Bob Roberts has them.

I do have 3 of the B+ adjustment aids left for a mere $3 shipped each. (shameless plug of the day)

Just bumping to mark and will confirm this "pulsing" filter cap fix once I get it. Also I'm getting a little hola/waves in the monitor at the same time. Monitor just capped but filter cap wasn't.
