I've got a Sanyo 20EZ which I recapped maybe 12 months ago, if that. At the same time I replaced the flyback with one of the replacements from Arcadeshop. I adjusted the B+ voltage. The monitor worked flawlessly after that, until today.

Today the monitor was running for about 30 minutes and then there was a very loud pop and it died. There is no neck glow.

Visually inspecting everything, I don't see any evidence of anything having blown up.

This seems exactly like when the flyback was bad previously. How reliable are these replacement flybacks? What else should I be looking for? Thanks for any help.

first off are the fuses still good.
if not then see what is shorted before or after them in the circuit.
also check your H.O.T Q902. and Q901 to see if they're still good.

one of those may have gone and that's where the pop came from.

also you are running it thru the 100v trans former in the bottom of the cab??
and it measures 100-106 volts correct.

also check your fly to see if it did not prematurely die on you. look for cracks and goo coming from it.

Peace

I finally got around to fixing this. The flyback had, in fact, cracked. This flyback lasted one year with minor usage. I'm hoping the new one is more reliable.

Damn, this is not good. I have one of those replacement flybacks installed on the Sanyo 20ez in my DK Junior. And it has been installed for about a year or so. I do not want to be replacing a flyback on these monitors every year.:(
