Vertical is smashing and I'm hearing a ringing. Monitor was not great before cap kit but it's definitely having an issue now...Check this out.

Any ideas? B+ pot doesn't seem to do anything although when off, the pot adjusts up to 5K ohm.
Filter is the c606? I haven't changed it yet. I've just ordered it from Bob Roberts. B+ is 95volts...should be 108?
Yeah, B+ needs to be 108. That explains the shrunken picture and the breathing. You can try changing the 2SD1090, but if that doesn't work, then you probably need the regulator IC (IC601).

change the LA5112N Voltage Regulator first and the filter cap and test the chassis before you change the 2SD1090 Current Limiter.
What if I just change both?
Then you'll never know where the problem was.![]()
You can do that, of course, but if you want to know what the problem was, you'll have to do them one by one.
Really? I'd personally do it the other way around. The 2SD1090 is cheaper than the LA5112N, and there has been a real problem getting *good* LA5112N's lately. Either part can cause this problem, and it's not like one faulty part is going to burn out the other.
But, then again, it's still 50/50. I've seen a bad 2SD1090 cause this, and I've ALSO seen a bad LA5112N cause this. So... flip a coin

its a 2-1 for me on the LA5112 i change more of them on theses chassis than i do the 2SD1090.
i guess i am getting the odd ball broke chassis that need fixing.
and they're not that expensive if you don't get them from bob
he will let us know what the problem was. and if you are rite ill buy you lunch if your ever in the area and you can do the same if i am in your area if i win.
Peace
