I'm trying to get my Donkey Kong cab finished off, and am having trouble with the monitor. I've got an all in one jamma board, and am using a inverter board convert the signal. I've done a cap kit on the board, and it did help, but things aren't perfect. It's garbled at the very top, and I can't seem to adjust it out.

Any ideas?

I'm a rookie with arcade games (I bought a multimeter just for this project). What number / where is the filter cap?

(also, thanks for the quick response)

I found this on the internet, I take it the filter cap is one of these?

You mentioned adjusting...

Have you tried adjusting the Horizontal Width ?
Like you may need to shift the image down (left/right?) and then shrink it a bit.
The entire image looks stretched causing it to foldover and scrunch the top portion.

The filter cap is the large cap. It is not included in the regular cap kit. Bob Roberts has them for 4 dollars each. I just ask for "1 Sanyo Filter Cap - $4.00." When you email him. It would be worth it to replace this cap anyway. Also, I recommend replacing your B+ Adj Pot. Bob Roberts also sells these for 1$ Each. The factory Pot is so shitty, if bumped slightly it will mess up the voltage and you will need a new one to reset it. I have changed all of the B+ Adj pots on my Sanyos.

I (believe) I've replaced all the caps on the main video board, except for the large 160v 470u one.

The horizontal width coil was fully extended (sticking out the top). I screwed it down in increments (checking monitor during this) until it feels like it bottomed out (I didn't put much pressure on it). I then adjusted what I believe is the horizontal old (the pot in the middle of the main board) until the picture lined up as best as possible. Here's what the video looks like now:

As you can see the original distortion is still there, and now the games's score, etc is shifted to the left.

PS - is there a way to embed youtube videos here?

OK, I'll buy a filter cap and a b+ pot (although my b= seems to test right at 108)

Trust me, its worth the 1 dollar. I had mine set at 108, it got bumped a little, and It broke right off when I tried putting it back.
