Hi all!

I'm in the process of doing my first cap job and it seems to be going well so far, thanks to all of your posts and information. I seem to have found a wire with one end disconnected/broken from its solder point. I compared it to another 20EZ that I have and I don't see the same wire any where. I also see what looks like a bridged solder joint on the solder side of the board were one end of the wire appears to be coming from.

I was just wondering if anyone had information on why this is here or where it goes?

Thanks so much, Dustin

looks like the 12vdc feed for the inverter board, do you have a larger pic showing the right hand side of the chassis when looking at it from the back?

Thanks for the quick reply,

All of the cameras I own are terrible! I'm trying to get the markings to show up, so that's why I had to zoom in so much. I will work on getting a better camera today.

:( and forgive my "newness".
Do you need a picture of the solder side or the component side.

Thanks for your patience because I'm sure you answer the same questions a million times

Dustin

If it is indeed the AB wire that powers the inverter board then it goes right in that hole at the end of your wire in the pic.

Thanks for the reply! I had to go back to work so I didn't get a chance to post more pics. The end of the wire in the pic is attached it's the other end that is floating in mid-air :)

It is really short like maybe 5 inches only, this monitor was working before I took it out to cap it. Is this wire normal? Is it possible it was not hooked up even before I took the board out?

Again, Thanks for the replies!

Ah.... so the other end which has the small three pin connector is what you're asking about ?
(3 pin connector with only one wire in it)

Yeah, that end plugs into the inverter board which normally sits right on top of the flyback cage. If you never had the inverter board then I would just tuck it away somewhere safe.

(ignore the monster discharging tool in this pic, just a random picture I found)

I do not have a inverter on the cage so I will make sure that wire doesn't come in contact with anything else when I put the board back in. There is no 3 pin connector, just a wire cut flush.

I am curious why there is not an inverter board? It is not needed or does it have an inverter somewhere else?

Either way thanks so much! I have about ten more capacitors to swap out and then see what problems might come next. :)

Hmmm..... someone must have cut the connector off for some reason.
There's like 16VDC on that wire, so definitely tuck it away safe.

Depends on what game your running on it.

And also which way that particular 20EZ is configured. (some/most were modified specifically for Nintendo)

Thanks again! I will tape and tuck it.

it is a Mario widebody by the way.
