I have a 20-Z2AW monitor that has the black bars going on, and needs recapped.
Ordered the capkit, but want to be prepared before I start.
Does anyone have a map of where the caps are located on the chassis?
Can't seem to find a location breakdown anywhere.
Thanks for any help!

Who did you order the capkit from?

Syracuse Semiconductors, Inc.

I contacted them to see if they had a location diagram, but sadly said no.

I have ordered from them before, unless they changed it since my last order (a long time ago) they dont include any documentation. You can get the service manual, its not a cap map but it tells you the locations and the cap values. https://www.mikesarcade.com/arcade/monitors.html look for your monitor number and then click the winzip logo to download it.

Edit: just went to their site, they do include documentation now.

check your caps as they are usually either very low grade caps or if they are nichicon they are the lowest grade ones they make and i see their pictures even have an 11 year difference on date code so your caps won't last if they are either of those. next time check out our kits as we only use the newest, best and longest lasting top quality capacitors and we don't use nichicon LD series like others which are designed specifically for LED lighting which won't last in the much higher heat of monitors compared to LED lighting. We also make over twice as many different kits or more than them and far more than any other vendor.

BTW: we don't supply maps on all kits because frankly they are very easy to do with our instruction but i have tons of maps including the one for the 20z2aw so if you need it PM me with your email and i will send you a copy.

I don't remember the exact differences between the EZV and Z2AW, but I don't think they were structurally that different. there were caps of different values however.

like G07s, Sanyo monitors are prone to necrosis of the caps. if you find any rotting or leaking I encourage you take enhanced measures to clean the mess up. I've never needed to replace filter caps for my own stuff in the past, but I did come across one where the filter cap rotted out. you'll have wonky B+ in that case.

I suggest also reflowing solder on the remote adjustment board, in addition to capping the amplifier board and installing the No Hum mod (search for that here)

Thanks for the advice and help everyone.
Lesson learned.

The last thing I want to do is double work and another capkit if I don't have to. 👍

just emailed you the cap map.
