I was having issues with my monitor shutting down. Discovered my B+ was high. After getting it set to 108V, I noticed the monitor width shrunk. I tried adjusting the horizontal width with a plastic tool. At first it wouldn't turn. After I let it sit, it eventually wiggled free. As I turn the coil, it appears nothing is happening on the monitor. What am I doing wrong?

I've never worked on a 20EZ because I don't own any Nintendo stuff. Looking at the manual, I guess you're adjusting the width coil on the main board. There's a post about doing that here: http://www.therealbobroberts.net/wc.html

Also, I found a case similar to yours on KLOV: https://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=282217

It's unresolved but some of Buffet's advice seems helpful. Sounds like there is "width cap" on this monitor: https://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=273576

Have you already recapped it?

If you can't get the horizontal stretch quite all the way to your liking on the 20EZ after using the plastic tool on the horizontal width coil, you can actually squeeze a little more width out of it with by tweaking the horizontal hold pot before it starts flipping!

I have not recapped it yet. Was hoping to avoid that.

a width coil only adjusts the width about 1/4-1/2inch on average and if your off alot more than that i would recommend cap kit to start with. you should never mess with your width cap if its the correct value until after capping your monitor because your only covering up a problem that will only get worse in time and damage more components potentially.

I had the same problem even after re-capping the monitor. The width coil did nothing until I replaced the width cap. However, you'll never know for sure what's causing the issue if you don't recap the monitor completely. It's probably one of the easiest monitors to work on so I highly recommend you do it. You'll be happy you did!

I recapped the CRT. The width issue did not go away. Which cap is the "Width" cap?

I did notice a new issue. The left side of the picture has some of the graphic cut up.
