San Francisco Rush the Rock Alcatraz VS Cruis N World and....

So im curious everyones opinion.
I havnt played many sit downs,.
I have very little knowledge of game play and cabinet quality differences.
I have a San Fran Rush the Rock A.E.
I have always wanted a sit down. I bought several cheaper games over time, did a lot of trading and maneuvering, and have finally landed one.
It is the only arcade machine i have.
Of course upon delivery (private party) it didnt work.
$200 later,.it is about to.
Wed i will be recieving the fixed Steering board that was shorting the game out after 10 seconds of being on.
I have yet to play this beauty.
The cabinet is awesome.
Im very excited.
NOW...here is my dilemma...
The technician has offered me several games in trade to choose from.
However, and here is the catch,.i cannot try them out first, as he lives FAR,
AND, i cannot test mine first, as he wants to bring not the part back, but a different game in trade.
He says he can bring the part, get it going, and be done,.
OR
He can bring the game i choose, and upon arrival, load the SF Rush and go....
He refuses to bring a game to me, have me test them out, and say,."hey, i like my SF Rush best".
He says that would be a waste of time.
SO....
I have these options:

Keep my SF Rush, and just enjoy it, as i hear it is a great game,
or

Hydro Thunder (i have to pitch in $200 cash?)
Cruis N USA Australia (thing is wierd. Backwards everything, like Euro style)
Off Road Challenge

Are any of these 3 games a good trade for me, or should i keep mine.
Im sorry in advance to anyone who has given me there opinion already.
Thnx

Rush the Rock is MUCH better than Crusin USA IMO. It's much more in depth, and has more stuff that'd keep your interest in the long run. Hydro Thunder would be a very comparable game.

There's console versions of all those games... you should try them out for yourself. IIRC, there's even an xbox compilation that has SF Rush, Hydro Thunder, and maybe even Cruis'n

I've owned ALL of those, and SF Rush the Rock is a much better long term home game. The game play is better, the game is longer, and there are short cuts and secret passages in it that the others don't have. Also the physics of the Rush is much better...when you do jumps it 'feels' like a jump. I DO like the Cruis'n series and they're especially good for younger kids, but the Offroad Challenge is the weakest of them. The music on the Cruis'n USA and World is better than Rush...but that's about it. KEEP YOUR GAME.

they all get old quick (i own a RTR, traded away my cruisin and offroad challenge) the next step will be that you need linked sitdowns. so i'd probably keep the RTR, and find another to link it with. AFter i picked up my 1st Ridge Racer V twin...my RTR hardly ever gets played anymore.

Sounds like a few more pro RtR and a few Cruis N lovers,.OK!
Im thinking i will keep the RtR,
I just spoke with the tech, and he has decided Hydro Thunder is off the table, because he feels it is a lateral move,.
im like.."what,.do i want to move backwards so you can move up?"
He says Off road chall. plus some cash, but hasnt decided how much, though from what i hear, i dont want that game...
I also dont want a backwards WORLD, so keeping RtR i will do!
thnx again,.

Yeah, Off Road Challenge is pretty lame IMO.

First of all, be VERY leary of any guy that wants to do a trade or sale, but you can't even plug it in and try it out, to see if you like it or if it even works? Sounds like a bad move right off the bat. That being said, the guy is trying to get your gem, the Rush the Rock.

It can still earn on location, and when I have lots of people over it gets constant play. Keep your Rush the Rock. Then if you want as time goes on, research those other games to maybe pick up one and "compliment" your Rush as time goes on.

sweet

Awesome!
Another +1 for rush!
Im feeling like i may have finally made a good trade. (the Marvel Vs SF for it)....
i love the opinions,.
and as for not testing,.
he doesnt want me to test MINE,.
i can test the one he brings me when he gets here,
but im to never play the Rush, likely because he knows i wont trade it,..
Cabinet wise,.
which looks nicest in a living room?
thnx again!

rush is a better game than hydro thunder.. Hell, I think crusin world is a better game than hydro.

The only reason to own hydro is if you have young kids. they can play it without having to reach the pedals..

Getting a 2nd rush will increase the replay factor.

the mere fact that this guy is willing trade any driver he has for the rush should tell you all you need to know..

again...

thankyou....he still hasnt played it either.
Neither of us have played this game
but based on what i tell him people say, and based on how nice the cab is,
his words are "IF IF IF i like this game, i will trade you this this or this, but i LOVE the cab!"
So it will be a suprise entirely when WE plug and play for the 1st time
Of course, he will say "this game isnt that good, i dont want it,"
it will become a game of cat and mouse, and i dont think im gonna play!
thnx guys

I LOVE the Cruis'n USA/World/Exotica games... so take this as you might... but keep RUSH. You can always slowly purchase other games for your cab later.

I own USA x2, World x2, Exotica x2, and Off Road Challenge x1... I say you should keep RUSH.

Again, I LOVE the Cruis'n series... but RUSH is the better game.

Also... never heard of "Cruis'n USA australia".... sounds fishy.... like the PCB is hacked or messed up showing everything reversed, lol.

ok

As for Australia version...
this thing is a trip.
The colors of the machine are crazy green.
It says on the marquee CRUIS N WORLD
the shifter and pedals are actually on the LEFT side, not Right.
It isnt a game board issue, it is a machine i have NEVER seen before.
He owns the USA, WORLD and EXOTICA, and i have seen them...this thing is way different.

Keep the SF Rush. Dude is lame for trying to swindle you into trading with his "You can't test it." comment.
