San Francisco Rush (original) or Rush the Rock - What's the difference?

Looking at buying either one. Is it just 4 completely different tracks? Is one experience better than the other? Or does The Rock have the original tracks plus more tracks?

Rush the Rock is far better I have 4 of them linked. You have far more tracks and more car choices. Most of all it has THE ROCK track.

You can also play the tracks "mirrored", but not reversed. It would be an AWESOME addition to the game if you could play them in reverse, as they DID implement that option into the N64 home port of the game. Most of the "secret paths" work both ways, so it's not like you COULDN'T use them playing the game in reverse...

I cant recall I would have to look but I think its 7 or 8. I dont know if it has the origonal as mine are all Rush the Rocks I think it does though.

pretty sure rush the rock has the original tracks from the first.

what i really would like is a way to have unlimited time.

You can go into the settings and make the difficultly level really easy and that will be close to giving you unlimited time.

I have the PC version of San Francisco Rush The Rock Alcatraz Edition. It was released with the Quantum3D Raven videocards. The game would only work on those specific videocards however. (in glide mode) Using any other 3dfx/Q3D cards would simply not work.

That is until I removed the check from the .exe files. (with the help some from various people) :) Now all you need is a Glide capable videocard or a Glide Wrapper. :)

Two short videos of me playing - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86aUzcyVaOE - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JRPK827Q4Y

Is this something I can share here? (as it is so old and impossible to find?)

That's cool! What kind of controls are you using with it?

I hope that I can someday have the space to have a few SF Rush machines at home like we used to have at 3Dfx. :)

I use an xbox360 controller and it works pretty good. Keyboard is the other option I have tried and it's pretty slick. Someday I will get a racing wheel and give it a whirl. :)

I told my girlfriend that she will get engaged when she buys me a Rush cabinet, was my favorite growing up. (I also had it for the N64 and was my most played game)

I just ordered the Dreamcast version of 2049 so that I can play that again. I need to order the N64 Rush though since I preferred regular Rush over 2049. I wish a version of SF Rush or the Rock had shipped on something with more texture memory than tha N64. :( Does the PC version that you have look like it has higher resolution than the N64 version? It looks pretty lowres, but that may just be because I haven't looked at it in a long time. )

Game can be ran at 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x1024. :) It seems to be a big buggy but is more than playable. By far not as enjoyable as my beloved N64 version. :)

I have the RUSH 2049 for my Dreamcast and it is really a good time and I don't even have a wheel for it. Finding all the coins in stunt mode is a real chore!!

Just so you know, you can convert a Rush to RTR for about $100. Boards are identical. ROM swap, PIC and a new hard drive image and you're good.

I made a .gif :)
