San Francisco Rush or Daytona?

As you can see, both have their stonger and weaker points. The thing with Daytona is that it will grow old fast unless you onstantly have someone else to race againast. It is the better head to head racer. If you are going to be alone most of the time, go with the Rush Alcatraz. More tracks and cars. Daytona has only 3 tracks and one car. Once you master the tracks, it's like riding a bike... you never forget how to beat it.

Maintenance wise, I'd go with the Rush also. If you get a Daytona that was operated before the newer soda spill guards were installed, you may be in for board repair hell somewhere along the way. The game boards are in the foot pedal area! Sega won't repair those boards anymore... you'll have to find someone like east coast amusement to send them off to every time. Rush parts are fairly cheap in comparison... $30 for a HD on ebay if that goes kaput, $100 or so to replace the board (you'll spend more than that getting the Daytona repaired).

My vote is for Rush.

my vote goes to Daytona. It's a classic. Plus parts are everywhere. you can swap from SSGT.

I own a Daytona Twin, and I've haven't played Rush much,
so my opinion is probably biased, but from what I know (...and have been told),
Daytona is better for actual "racing feel" and the driving dynamics (drifting, feedback, etc..)
are more realistic. (ie. more like real racing than a driving "game" ).

[ I also have a Cruis'n USA, and that really is a "game", nothing realistic there...]

That said, Daytona has limited track selection ( 1 oval, 1 easy track, 1 hard track),
and only one car.

Rush has alot more options (both cars and tracks).

Like others have posted, for an actual "racing feel", go for the Daytona,
but for variety and longevity, you might be better off with a Rush.

That said, I probably would not trade my Daytona for a Rush if offered...

Tough choice...

Good luck.

DAYTONA USA all the effin' way!! Am I biased because I have 4 linked? Yes!

Actually they're both great games and of the upper end of great driving games. I would love to have 4 Rushes, its the only other equal in my mind to Daytona for great driving games at the end of my era in the arcades back in the day.

I think that both games are pretty much equal of quality, they're just a much different experience...

Daytona has a much more realistic physics and feel to it. Its more geared like a real race car at a real track. Its not entirely lifelike but has a great feel if you like reality and simulator type driving. The car can't jump 200 feet, the car can't take shortcuts through a field.

Rush series games have the crazy drive like you stole it attitude! The car can do amazing stunts that are completely impossible in real life. Flying 200 feet, going offroad thru dozens of shortcuts throughout the game. Its more of a fun type of drive with the emphasis on crazy driving.

I'd say Rush is more of a walk up and play it to have a fun crazy drive like you couldn't do in a real car... Daytona is more competitive challenging your friend head to head and feels like more at stake when you're talking about driving skills.

You need to upload a video of you and all your buddies racing, that would be so cool! 4 Daytona's all linked, nice!

I actually played the Rush today. I have played it before but not with the point of comparing it to Daytona. After i played the Rush i went and played the Daytona's and i have to say that we (me and my buddy) enjoyed the Dayton's much more. I do like the looks of the Rush better but man those head to head races we were having on the Daytona game were just more fun than the Rush games. Looks like it's going to be Daaaaaaaytonnnna!

Thanks to everyone who offered their opinion.

Go Canada Go,

Braido...
