Linked? Or just singles? Very important question for me.

My choice for singles would be Rush but nothing beats 2 player Daytona.

Doh! Sorry both are Linked. I am leaning toward Daytona, but the Rush are newer, less problems?

I have one Rush the Rock and have been looking for another since i got it. I love it but it would be even better if I could race another real person next to me.

I always liked Daytona also. if one popped up near me for a decent amount, i would grab it.

Daytona is also medium res... So that is another issue moving forward.

Both are medium res games.

From a maintenance standpoint: I'd go with Rush, as Daytona is a maintenance nightmare. There are multiple multiple boardstacks, and they have constant problems with heat expansion.

From a gameplay standpoint? Tie. I like them both equally. Maybe Rush a little more though.

Forget about the service issues. Both games were built to last ten million gameplays without so much as a coin jam, the cabinets were built from solid titanium to give them stability and covered with wood to make them look asthetically appealing, and they were both the best, most cutting-edge technology games ever manufactured in the racing genre. Get both of them.

My vote goes to the Daytona as well. I never really got into Rush, but I suppose if one was given to me, yeah, I'd probably take it. As Peale stated, they are both Med. res games, but in my experience, I've had a LOT less problems with the Daytona monitors. The Rush cars used a NeoTec, which is known to have service issues, and also the tubes are known to go bad. Also, ever try and pull a monitor out of a Rush? Let me know what you think about it when you have to. (I have...not fun). Overall, I'd get a Rush 2049 over an old-school Rush, and that's one of the reasons I'd go for the Daytona. Plus, it's a lot more fun racing in Daytona over Rush.

Never played daytona, but I have played rush and the rush series is sooo much better than the other drivers I _have_ played.

Just my $0.02 FWIW
cheers
/Tim

Our database lists Rush as a Standard Res. game, Can anyone confirm? I'm curious myself.

My vote is for Rush the Rock, because the gameplay is slightly better and the soundtrack is wayyyyyyyyyy better. The cab is cool too.

Most driving games are Med res. Rush, Cruis'n , California Speed, Daytona, Top Speed, Sega Super GT...

Gotta go with Daytona. But if I were looking to buy a driver it would be Sega Super GT. And wasn't Atari bought out by Midway and then Midway sold all their parts to Happ Controls. Now many of the Cruisin' games are dying because they can't get parts any more. Just throwing it out there. At least Sega is still in business although finding parts may not be any easier.
