Just got the chassis back from arcadecup. Plugged everything in and I could see the game screen behind gray horizontal lines. colors were very washed out. Tried to adjust the picture, and it went out.

Waited a few minutes and tried again. Ever since the picture is locked up (no game screens at all just garbage (Hopefully you can see in the pictures)

According to the manual, everything is as it should be boardwise on the main board and I checked the hard drive against a CF drive and same thing. One LED on motor board (CR_DIR) is constantly lit and apparently it should be blinking.

Any help would be great. Game plays "blind" but there is the static garbled mess on the screen. It seems to do stuff when I hit the test mode, but I cannot decypher it.

I am alomost there. Down to fine tuning. Thanks to all who helped.

Are you sure you got the right chassis back. I looks like you have the wrong resoulutiion.
There should be a med. res chassis in there i believe. check on the side and see, and see if it is a 5000. if it is maybe it is plug into the 15khz plug by chance.
turn down your flyback screen pot.

Checked the chassis. Same one that left came back

Power readings: +5 is at 5.01 but when I check 12V it is about 10.56.

I turned down the screen adjustment and that was not it. Made the screen go black and then turning it up slightly gave me the same screen.

How do I synch the monitor? should the need to be done after flyback/cap repalcement?

You haven't told us what monitor you have, so we can't tell you that with the info you've given us...

Oops. Here you go

Neotec 2702 27"

Tried another round of adjustments and I can sort of see the game playing (or at least the garbage appears to be moving) when I start a game.

To give an obscure example of what is on the screen. there are two rows of what looks like "the Predator" language in red.

Thank you.

I did send an email to chad this evening.

Sent a picture if the screen and told him what was happening.

Thank you for your continued patience with this newbie.

2702 is a VGA resolution model.

SF Rush is medium resolution and should have a Neotec model 2701 which is medium res.

Wrong monitor number

I meant 2701.

Chad had it as 27-E (Not sure what that means) It was working fine before the flyback blew and I sent it in.

I am sure the chassis is fine (I trust Chad's work) so it has to be something else.

vertical adjustment

I would play with the vertical adjustment until it syncs up. After its readable then turn the screen on the flyback to get rid of the white lines.
Your screen shot is the opening test sequence that tests the feedback boards.
The power supply should have an adjustment knob. You might kick it up a bit to get the 12v.

Soooo close and....nada.

Almost had it tonight. Messed with the remote board (Like Wayne suggested, thank you)until I could kind of make out the actual writing behind the fuzz. Then I adjusted the screen knob on the flyback. Voila! I had the game screen. Dark, but it was there. It was out of frame to the side and short, and I was trying to get it centered. I adjusted the pot marked (H hold) on the remote board, and the picture went black. This is what it did in the beginning before the fuzz appeared

Now I have no glow in the neck of the monitor, but it has the "static build up" sound from the monitor when I turn it on. I have checked all fuses and they look ok. Board LED's still read ok. Flyback does not look blown (couldn't think how I would roast a new flyback with the H hold)

So freakin' close.

Alright. Now were moving (somewhat)

OK, so am am on a steep learning curve here.

I left is alone while I was typing and then double (ok for the tenth time) checked everything was hooked up correctly. Then I powered it up. Neck glows, so far so good. Then it was same screen before- lines, red crap. So I went (very slowly) to the vertical hold. Brought a picture of the test screens still with the lines. Then, I turned down the screen adjustment, and again I had a picture!. The picture is off center to the right and short. I said the hell with it and played a game. Worked fine. So, then I start to adjust the picture (not touching the one labeled H hold) everything is getting better. Brighter, crisper colors etc.. but picture is still off to the right. Crossing my fingers, I (gently) turn the knob labeled H hold. Starts to move the picture to the left. Slowly, getting better, and then wham! screen goes black. I am waiting to turn it back on to see if the cycle repeats to try and change the end result.

I am thinking the board pots are mislabled or misconnected. But I cannot understand why moving the picture to the left would cause that type of cutoff. Any other ideas on centering the picture? I think once it gets there, I should be good.

I would like to know if it is "stable" and not so sensitive though.

Thanks.

Getting close. Very close.

OK, waited a while and the picture was back.

Now, thanks to the help of the folks here, I have a picture, and I think we are down to fine tuning to get the position right.

I will keep on it tomorrow. (Picture is pincushioning at the sides and the postion is still off, but at least I have the picture)

Thanks again to all who have helped.

Success!

Finally. Thanks to all who helped.

Learned a ton, and as of now, it has been on for a while with a bright, clear, picture and plays fine. Thanks to Chad at Arcadecup.com for his great work.

Thanks again for all the great help.
