FS Several Samtron 5" Monitors with Converter Board

I have five 5" Samtron Monitors with Converter card for sale.
65.00 Shipped

It doesn't get much simpler than this.

Here is the link to the thread that got me interested in this fun project...
http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=189618&highlight=samtron+monitor

If you want to do it yourself search the forums for samtron and you will see a few posts with the parts you need. Instructions are all over, but the picture method is easiest for me (Pic in link below)

I have built a few and ordered 8 more monitors for a separate project and have a few left over. (After reading all of the posts and experiencing my own orders - I recommend buying in multiples of 8 as well)

This is a good choice for a test bench monitor, it comes tested and ready to go. It will need a switching power supply to for the 5 volts to the card and 12 volts to the monitor. Once you have that plug in your JAMMA harness and off you go.

There are some small variances in the cards themselves as I build them I have changed the layout to better suit my soldering skills but the cards all work the same.

Bump - lowered price to 65.00 shipped

I need to move the remainder of these out. I am not looking to get rich, just cover material costs and parts and a little time.

Lower price 65.00 Shipped

Please check my itrader profile - I am honest, Pack well and offer decent prices.
Thanks
Michael

Bump

I still have these.
There are plenty of uses for them as you can see by the pics.
I still have some clean up to do such as line the monitor shroud with felt and replace the aluminum holders, mount a volume control, mount and drill for the speaker, and wrap the joystick harness.

These are ready to be hooked up to a jamma harness and switcher you say? I am interested in one for sure then. I recently bought the LCD version and am not going to keep it, I was more interested in the CRT version. I plan to build my son a mini bowling game. LMK, thanks!

I would be a buyer as well, as I have been wanting to put together some sort of test bench for jamma games. If all it needs is the switching power supply and jamma harness, then it's definitely within my realm of tinkering :) Phetish, were there any major issues with the lcd version you have? How much do one of those usually run? If they are as simple to hook up as these seem, I might be tempted to get something like that for a more portable testing station, and use this crt for a mini cabinet to mess with.

I asked him about these too, (also as a buyer) but this is an old thread from 2012. So we might be too late, unless anyone knows other places to buy 5" and 7" CRTs...

I purchased one of these off Michael a ways back and am very pleased with it.
Nice to have a real CRT monitor in my test rig.

I haven't yet tried it out. It has the cables with it, but I didn't bother trying to hook it up as I was looking for CRT. It should work fine. Cost me $85 shipped.

Guys
I have like 5 of these. I can get to them no time soon.

Send me a pm and next time I am in louisiana I will see what I can do. We are talking months though.

I have an extra 5" Samtron Monitor that I no longer need. It is the bare monitor and has not been modified yet so a converter card would need to be made along with the other wiring described in this thread. If you don't want to wait and you are up for putting one together yourself, I would sell this monitor for $35 shipped, conus. Just PM me. Thanks.

These are pretty easy to find:

10" Hantarex 9000 - chassis identical to its bigger 20" brother other than different flyback, so parts easy to source. Found in Nintendo Playchoice cabs.

Liteyear, you should've gotten a pm from me back when I first posted in this thread. Go ahead and keep my name on the list for whenever you get ahold of these if you don't mind, time is not an issue for me. Phetish, if you're thinking about selling your lcd let me know, I may be a buyer :)

Man I originally put together the kits for these but lost heart on the project.

You can't really charge enough to make the kind of money it takes to make one worth your while. Somewhere around $80+... so his asking price for these were really pretty much cost plus the hour or more it takes to convert it.
