So I was supposed to put this machine on location tomorrow, so I went out to give it one last cleaning and test and also to go ahead and program all the settings, but I have run into kind of a strange problem...

I downloaded a manual from the internet because I didn't have an original..
So I hold the service button down for a few seconds and the settings come up, but none of them match what the manual say they should be, according to the manual I should have options 1-10 then l1-r4 however I only have 1-9 then the machine goes back to game mode...

So I am unable to change the individual prize value and I can't change the difficulty, and honestly I can't put it on a location how it is because I can win it every time!!

Any clue what's going on here, I have already tried playing with settings 1-9 thinking maybe I just had a different version, but no luck none of them affect winablility...

Ok, just figured it out, it currently has an A16F EPROM and I need an A16A (version 1.06) anyone have one of these, or the capability of burning one for me??

EDIT > I see you posted before I hit post > What board version do you have? Look on the Eprom top right of main board.

Sammy did some custom chips for certain operators.

I checked my stash and I do not have any more sammy boards.

I did find some of my old manauls.

The A16F is a California Chip and here are the settings if it helps:

01 is coin per credit settings (0-19). Starts at 0=1 Coin and goes up from there 1=2 Coins etc.
02 is Lamp Speed (0-6) Just lists as speed 1, speed 2 etc.
03 is Lamp Direction (0-3) 0= Clockwise, 1= Counter Clockwise, 3= Random
04 is Carousel Error (0-1) Turns on / off the display "Error Code" 0= Off 1= On
05 is Auto Stop Timer (0-3) 0= 20sec, 1=30 sec, 3=40 sec, 5= 40 sec.
06 is Tilt System (0-1) 0= Off, 1= On
07 is Attract Sound (0-1) 0= on, 1= Off
08 is Free Play (0-1) 0= Off, 1= On
09 is Bonus Credits (0-2) 0= Off, 1= 4 coins 3 credits, 2= 20 coins 11 credits.

With the California chip you cannot program a payout percentage but you can control the light speed and direction for game difficulty.

Crud... I guess I will just speed the lights up a little and fill it with cheapo toys for now, but hopefully I can find someone with an A16A or the files so I can have one burnt...

I would love to be able to put the Ipod and Nintendo DS-I I picked up for the game in it...

I would advise against those high end prizes.

Those clips on the wheels will break if they shake the crap out of them (and believe me they will try) and they will steal you blind.

We had many problems with those clips breaking when we tried similar items.

Also, do not run them if you have the plexi door installed even if you have them pad locked. We had a few that they melted the plexi with lighters and fished all of the high end prizes out.

We converted all of ours to play-til-you-win games full of trinkets before will finaly got rid of them.

Thanks for the advise, thankfully this unit is upgraded with the glass door! Definitely rethinking the high end prize thing..

Just curious, how did you make your play till you win? A custom EPROM I assume?

Yea, we had a custom eprom made that added a routine so if they did not win it would go again, similar to when you win on an empty wheel. We also had the light speed slowed to a crawl. Made it for little kids. They did ok, but the play-til-you-win candy cranes did much better.
