I may have a Space Duel coming my way. Would it be okay to transport laying flat on it's back?

Highway roads, approx 2 hour drive.

Is this bad for the machine or the monitor?

That's absolutely ok, mine went through the same thing. As always, make sure you remove any quarters, nuts & bolts, etc from inside the game and make sure everything (monitor, boards, coin door/box, etc) is secured in place. If it's going to be in a pickup, wrap it with stretch wrap no matter how you transport it. Double check connections once you get it unloaded.

Perfect! Thank you for the info and the quick response!

To confirm, I move all of my games this way. Think about it like this, the monitors are oriented all different ways when in-use. They can take it.

The *ONLY* thing to be absolutely aware of, and I've had this bite me once... Ensure that all monitor mounting and bolts are securely fastened. I had one that I thought was secured, it was not (new acquisition, wasn't my fault that it wasn't bolted in correctly) but it was my fault for not checking it... POP, busted the neck of the monitor and cracked the neck board.

Also, if the machine has any protrusions on the back (locks, monitor bumps, etc.) be very careful you don't damage the game or the truck you are hauling in. Never lay a cabinet on monitor bumps that are typical in cabaret cabinets.

Other than that, smooth sailing. I've even moved them on their sides (when side-art was properly protected with wrap, or I just didn't give a crap).

Good points.

Yeah, some of the Taito cabinets have that plastic cover out the back door for the monitor clearence. I figured THOSE were not safe to move that way :)

Was not sure if vector monitors had more tempremental issues from hauling this way or not.

Thanks again for the clarifications!
