Rusty Quarters Arcade in Minneapolis - pics from 5 PM on Tuesday

Was there to sweet talk Tempest... again.
Figured you all might like to see how popular this place really is right now.
Rick (rainman154) showed up to check the place out and play a little Centipede too.
Many people were simply walking by, stopped in and played for 15 minutes or so and left.
Others were there the entire 1.5 hours I was there.
Nice mix of folks too. Look for the picture of the mom, dad and baby playing.

My wife and I were there on Saturday night. Place was packed - lines waiting for games. My old Ms Pac was certainly getting a workout - high score is over a half million!

Allen and Rick - did you get the Tempest going?

Thats awesome to see.for one a Klov'r opened it and 2 people actually in an arcade playing classic's.Unless those are all yall's freind's in there for the photo op! J/K :)

Who is that guy playing the centipede?! He must work out....!

Brad, Al was messing with the Tempest. Thinks it's the board. I took apart the track ball on centipede because it was really sticking. Now the thing is smooth! I was sad to see the Castlevania is now a tetris, but I guess it wasn't making that much money. Still, Castlevania as an arcade isn't all that common.
First one to beat my high score on centipede gets a free hug...

Oh... it's most assuredly the PCB set this time...

Here's another picture of that really buff dude playing centipede. I must admit, watching him handle that creamy white ball was very exciting...

Thanks for posting pics. We are hoping to get up there over spring break and I wondered what it looked like inside. Can't wait!

I must find an excuse to get over there sometime soon. Maybe bringing up a trip to Ikea and/or Anthropologie to my wife will make it happen. :)

Thanks for posting the pics nice to see people still line up and enjoy the classics like that :) wish we had something like this in Cali

What's amazing is that most of those people look like they weren't even born yet when these games were made. Great job, I hope for continued success.

One thing I did notice is that the place seems very bright. I love a dark arcade.......

I know Morbidboy asked for donations a while back and it rankled a certain other poster on here, but funny... I don't see that certain poster yappin' on this thread now that Rusty Quarters is actually open and drawing people in. I can't wait to visit it the next time I get down to Minneapolis!!

Yes... I agree...it's too bright. Sage did say, on the RQ facebook page, that he was going to put lower wattage bulbs in the lights.

Another issue he'll have to deal with is how hot the games make that space. It's very, very warm in there. Nice in the winter but will be a killer in the summer.

I'll have to remember to use that as an excuse at home to have more arcade games, at least during the winter.

Awesome arcade. I wish we had one like that nearby with a great game selection!

Thought you would like to know I am an IAAPA member (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions) and they send out a news letter a couple of times a week and included a link to the Star Tribune article. Thought it was cool to see your arcade linked to in such a big way, hopefully things will keep growing for you. :)

Cool Beans! Annie and I are talking about going to the Amusement Expo 2012 this year.

Im right here, and I still think it was an assclown move for asking for 30k in donations to open it.
