OK, I know there are a TON of force feedback info in the tech area, but none of them really key into my problem....

I have 2 force feedback board. The first board that i have keeps blowing fuses and the Q2 chip has a burn mark by it, telling me that its probably no good.

The second board I have worked, but pulled hard left. So I thought the problem might have been the Q1 chip. I took the Q1 chip off the first board, and installed it in the Q1 spot on the second board. I hooked it up and after like 10 seconds, BOOM! there goes the Q2 chip, cracked in half and a small burn spot in the same exact spot as the first friggin board... NOTE<, I did not have this board hooked up to the motor when it blew the chip.

By chip i mean OPA541AP.

My question is, Do i just need to replace BOTH OPA541AP chips, or will they just blow again? Are there any voltages I could check to see if power coming is is good?

Any help is always very much appreciated!!!

I've never actually troubleshooted these boards, but I'd wager that the Q1 you swapped was the reason your Q2s blew. You obviously have two bad Q2s that you need to now go order, and most likely have at least one bad Q1. Even odds you still have other problems on both boards.

I think I am going to replace Both Q1 AND Q2 on one of the boards and go from there. If i blow one after that... Going to look for a new board.

I only paid 200.00 for my rush the rock, so I'm not too heartbroken ... yet...

That's why I'm not big on this game, that force feedback board is a BITCH.

This board is a pain. I have two RUSH the Rocks and after giving up on my FF board that only pulled LEFT, I just bought a NOS FF board on ebay for like $50. It's cheaper in my opinion. I still have the old board. I am hanging on to it until I find one that has a good OPAMP I can steal.

I have been looking for a GOOD working board for 50.00 and I can't seem to find one... So I just went ahead and paid 50.00 for 2 NEW OP AMP chips that go in Q1 and Q2. Going to replace them this weekend and see what happens.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!

I FIXED IT!! I'm pretty damn excited, as this is my first board repair. I ordered 2 new OPA541AP Chips and replaced them on the board, Plugged it in, and WORKED PERFECT!! I bet the OTHER board I have is the same damn thing but at 25.00 a chip from Mouser, I'll pass. One working is good enough for me!!

Send it my way!! I wish the chips where CHEAPER, or I would try to fix these for like a 10.00 profit.

But at 50.00 for 2 chips, and 10 bucks for me, you can probably find a working board on ebay for like 30 or 40.00 ... oh well.
