hey all, looking for a bit of info. I have several Rush 2049 games and one of them began to have shaky steering a couple days ago. What I mean by this is that when you play, you have to fight (often to no avail) to keep the car straight. It doesn't pull to one side, it seems to want to jump back and forth. I know this is probably a wheel driver board issue and found that the intake fan on the metal CPU housing wasn't spinning. I got the fan replaced, but think something might have overheated in the mean time. I also checked the motor assembly and all the belts and gears seem to be in working order.

I guess my question is this: Surely someone has to have seen this before, what specific components on the wheel driver board would cause this? If someone could just give me a nudge in the right direction, I wouldn't have to play a guessing game with which ones to replace.

More likely the steering pot. I'm assuming 2049 uses an analog pot like most other driving games. As pots wear they begin to have intermittent contact which can cause the car to dart around and not steer smoothly. There should be a self test for the steering. If you see the values jumping around, you have your answer.

thanks for the help, after watching it boot and seeing those numbers jump and also jumpering between two of the three terminals on the pot and watching the wheel turn all the way to the end and stop jumping, I suppose it is actually the pot. Another quick question, does anyone happen to have a mouser part no. for a 5k pot that will work in this game so I don't have to buy the overpriced (~$30 bucks) one from happ?
