Any Rush 2049 experts out there have any ideas on the following...

I picked up a Rush 2049 SE (I think) that was not working. Supposedly its an SE or so says the marquee but I'm not sure. it was missing the power supply and the cable that goes from the video board to the middle pcb. Also, the drive says its a Rush 2049. Does the SE have different markings? Funny, I had an SE awhile back which I sold so dont have it as a reference.

I also had an empty Rush 2049 cab (now donated to a local guy that builds multi-racers) that I used to strip the entire wiring harness incl power supply out of. I put the ps in the SE cab and it works but there is something strange about how the power cords are connected. I decided to take the entire cage out of the SE (it's in a storage unit) and test it in another Rush 2049 that i have at home (currently working) that's going to a friend of mine. Ideally they will both go to him if i can get the SE working.

I swapped all the boards (there are 5 in total, 3 on the back of the cage and 2 on the door) & hard drive out of the SE cage and tested them one by one in the working Rush 2049. I was able to determine the hard drive from the SE (labeled Rush 2049) is not working. I get the following error...
Can this be fixed (re-image) or is the drive toast?

Also, the middle pcb is not working. The good board goes through a count of 1 to 6, 1 to 9 then letters and boots. The bad pcb just displays an 8 in the display, seems stuck, nothing happens.

Any suggestions on what I can do to fix these issues?
Does anyone have a spare cable that goes between the two boards?
Does anyone have a spare working middle board?

Can you tell if this is an SE or just a regular 2049?
What components are changed in going from a 2049 to an SE? Is it just the drive or is anything else different

Thanks for any help!

your missing the boot rom in your pics. I assume your good board has a boot rom. but your pics show its missing.

you might want to consider buying a kit from arcade services and eliminate the HDD and get the proper boot and se pic chip.

@mrbill2084 well doh! Lol. I was testing these late last night and I was just swapping the boards, hadn't noticed the missing chip. Thanks!

To be honest, not familiar with the various components as I never really had to work on them. The SE I had previously worked w/o any issues.

Ill swap the rom chip to see if that solves the board & drive issue. Ultimately they will be upgraded to the SE CF kit but want to make sure the games are working with what they have.

Does anyone know if Arcade Services is on klov?

Thanks again!

I have bought from them before many years ago.. I dont think they are on klov. if you have any concerns buy it off ebay..

but someone might be able to burn you a cf drive. but you have to have all 3 elements match(pic, boot, and drive version)

I have two SE kits from Arcade Services and it has been all good with them.
Easy to install and bombproof it appears.

I swapped the rom chip and the game booted with the working drive so at least the second middle pcb is good.. The drive labelled Rush 2049 had the same error msg so unable to determine if it was a regular or SE drive.

Does anyone know how to remove the steering motor? Do you need a steering wheel puller to remove the collar from the shaft? Parts are a bit rusty. Actually, id like to remove the entire assembly from the dash.

Also I read in the documentation that you need a "Hub Link Kit" to connect more than two games...
Couldnt find this "kit" but turns out any ol hub will work.

I wasnt able to find any info on "hub link kit", I thought it was some Rush 2049 specific connectivity option (wouldnt surprise me) but then came upon the following thread, updated that thread and referenced here so anyone searching for that phrase will find it in the future

Looks like there's a set screw that pinches that collar together. Remove that set screw, then drive a wedge in the split and it should slide right off.

Seems mine was a bit extra rusty. I couldnt get it to budge. Ended up using a steering wheel puller. Hopefully others dont have to go through that much effort but it worked albeit lost a screw in the collar, broke right off. No consequence in this case as I was just removing the motor/assembly as a spare for my friend getting the two Rush games. The dash went to another friend that is building a multi racer using a stripped cab I gave him (I had five of these at one point, dont ask me why, lol) and some other steering/pedal setup and he's going to mount it to the dash.
