So the worse of the two Rushes at Badger is now bootlooping for a whole hour before it finally comes up correctly... and the FMVs are still very choppy. It's time to do in those hard drives.

Here's what I need to know:
  • How big of a CF card do I need?
  • Do I need to swap in a modded a security IC like in Killer Instinct or can I just image the card and go?
  • Is the HDD data board-locked -- put another way, can I image one Rush and use that image on the other, or does it need to be an image from that specific machine?
  • No HDD serial checks, right?

Which Rush are you talking about? 2049 or plan SF Rush(or Rush AE)
Plain Rush or rush AE uses a 4GB CD card, nothing else needed

2049 (or 2049 SE,TE) I would guess 16gb to 32gb CF card. It runs on a 20GB harddrive so I dont know for sure which size card you need.

No checks or anything just easy swap out. Only reason you would need and new secrurity chips is if you want to upgrade to a newer game like Rush to Rush Alcatraz Edition or 2049 to 2049 Special Edition. I have the chips if you need any.

2049... it's in the title :p

I'm gonna do some science on ours, try to figure out exactly how much of the HDD is used. Don't worry, I'll do a full bit-for-bit backup in case anything goes wrong. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some kind of serial lock or something.

I'm dumping the "bad" HDD right now... it's apparently not all that bad, as I'm not getting any outright errors, it was just dog slow until it warmed up.

Anyway, it's not done dumping yet, but I see nothing but zeroes from 2284MB onward... so a 4GB CF card should be sufficient. I'm gonna scan the whole image, though, just in case.

-E- Ayup, 2GB of data, 18GB of zeroes. A 4GB card can hold all the data. Barring any disk size checking asshattery, it'll work. I have a card I'm gonna bring in tomorrow and try.
