Running the Gauntlet

Thanks for the update and nice score on the sticks via Crime Fighters! You know the guy from Canada, JP1, has tall side art but it is slightly different? I think I'll be going this route.

Did you get your sound 100% working now?

Please keep on updating!

Yes, sound is 100% thanks to a new board from Nuterpacman! I still have the old board, just trying to figure out what to do with it.

I thought the Canadian guy only had a test print? If he has finished prints to sell, I'd be very tempted!

JP1 is who you are referring to and I believe that he has already ran his full art for the Gauntlet already.
The only thing that he has left I believe is a set of artwork that is in 2 or three pieces.
It is complete I believe, but I would get with him to see what he has.

Gauntlet art

I can still get the art printed but it will be costly to do 1 offs now
PM me if you like .

THat looks great.... !

Sounds like there are several people who were interested. Maybe we could get a group together to get a better rate?

I am not opposed to this but unless there is solid commitment i can not print. Keep in mind that the latest version is as close to the originals as it gets aside from being silked....:) PM me with what you have in mind. Ill see what I can do.

Jp1, would you be up for starting an interest/pre-order thread for a bigger order? My Gauntlet could use some nice side art.

You've already proven you can put together a nice product, so perhaps people would be willing to put down some money as a commitment to order? I'd certainly consider it.

Art

It looks the only deal i can get from the printers is at 10 sets. and all is will save me is 10$ per set which to me is hardly worth the wait
That also tells me that there is little mark up in his work.
I have just sent to print a some sets. Let me know

Thanks to my recent Op Raid, I scored the last 2 sticks I was looking for -- I now have a complete set of original black Atari sticks to get my CP back to it's 1985-era glory. And I don't have to re-wire the sticks from the Crime-fighters machine! Bonus!

I also just ordered a set of side art from JP1 - I'll update when it arrives. Really looking forward to seeing this first-hand, all the photos posted from the other Gauntlet projects look amazing!

Looking forward to finally being able to complete this project!

Looks awsome....... Well done on the Gauntlet. How did the install go???? did you use water or the method i use of splitting it on the back ??
Regardless it looks really good... Coin opp art and done!

Hey JP1 good to see you around again.

4 month and 11 days since the install. I wonder if Vongoosewink will reply.

I should have bought the side art from you when I had the chance It seems I am the proud owner of 3 gauntlet machines and maybe another 2 if I am lucky.

A year and a half later, and the world's longest Gauntlet restoration continues!

This weekend I finally got back around to this machine. I've had the parts lying around to complete the restoration for a while (Atari sticks, t-molding, NOS marquee, and JP1's tall side art.)

First up, the marquee. My old Gauntlet 2 marquee was discolored with age and cracking, so I was able to find a NOS Gauntlet 1 marquee in decent shape (some blemishes at the bottom, but once installed it looks pretty good.

I'm giving this machine a Gauntlet 1 makeover, but keeping the G2 pcb. I just think the original Gauntlet art package looks nicer. Next step, install the tall side art. Wish me luck (probably going to need it!)

Here's the machine with the new marquee:

Come on down anytime! :)

It's funny, this Gauntlet is actually the first game I ever bought. Now, many games later, I'm finally getting back to it.

Side art applied!

Last night I finally got the side art applied to the machine, and I think it came out pretty good. I enlisted the help of my wife, which was essential as the art is really big and I am sure I would have made a mess of it trying to do it by myself. Kudos to JP1 for a nice set of repro art!

We used the dry method and a auto windshield squeegee to smooth it out as we applied it (if you try this, be sure to not use one with a black rubber squeegee. Ours was a red one and did not leave marks).

Still to go, new T-molding, new leg-levellers, and replace the joysticks. I am still debating what sticks to install, I have a complete set of the Atari sticks but they are a little worn, or I have a set of colored (yellow, red, blue, green) Wico ball-tops. My wife wants the colored ones.

Decisions, decisions...

Anyhoo, here is the latest picture:
