Hey Guys,
What is a good adapter that will allow me to connect an arcade control panel to a PC? Something that will look like keyboard presses to the PC.

I want to run That Maelstrom PC game and make an arcade type control panel for it.

Thanks,
John

What about a Windows menu to select between games? It would be nice to be able to select between the regular Maelstrom, the Star Trek Version and the Star Wars version.

You probably want some kind of frontend that boots up.
You should be able to select between games if you set it up right.
Just like how MAME frontends work.

The few things I want to run are just windows apps running under Windows 10, so I don't think a whole bootable front end is necessary. I need to look more into how the mame stuff works.

Hey John!
If you want to run a few different games on a PC in that you might as well install something like Launchbox.
It will making jumping around between games easier and faster and you can also always load in whatever other games you can find on MAME that will work well with whatever control panel you build.

And ditto on stuff from Andy at Ultimarc.
Randy at groovygamegear also makes great parts.

Any interface parts from someone other than those two guys are a waste of money and effort.

Look forward to seeing what you're up to!

I have this little Asteroids bartop that was going to put a 17" B&W vector monitor and FPGA asteroids board into.
Now I want to run a color VGA CRT and the Maelstrom windows game in. Way more fun and great sounds.

Look into Brook Boards.... Polycade sells a Brook PC only board for like $25 ea... Or Zero Pi is a cheap one... There are others if you want to control consoles as well as PC's
