Hi everyone,

I'm working on a cocktail cabinet project and I'm wondering if it's possible to run a Midway Space Invaders board (L-shape version) inside a cocktail cabinet setup.

Specifically, I'm trying to figure out:
  • Can the board be configured so that it flips the screen for Player 2 (like cocktail mode)?
  • Is there a switch or jumper setting to enable this "player screen flip" or cocktail mode?
  • Or would it require a modification or different board revision?
Any advice or experience with this board in a cocktail setup would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Midway doesn't have the pile of XORs to flip the video, but it does have an output pin to drive relays that physically swap the yoke wire pairs on the monitor to flip the screen.

The documentation for the hack is very sparse.

From mame:
Code:
/*************************************
 *
 *  Space Invaders
 *
 *************************************/

// the flip screen circuit is just a couple of relays on the monitor PCB

uint32_t mw8080bw_state::screen_update_invaders(screen_device &screen, bitmap_rgb32 &bitmap, const rectangle &cliprect)
