On my Space Shuttle, there are two posts in front of the center ramp that have thick yellow rings on them. You can see them here.

Anyone have any idea how to get them off to replace them? The post won't seem to come apart and there is a thick part above and below the "ring" that won't allow you to slide it off (or put on a new one). Am I missing something? How did they get them on in the first place?

I'm pretty sure they should slide off the top. You may have to cut the existing one off and lube the new ones with a little windex to slide them on.

sometimes they get stuck and a good twist cracks them free, but yes they should slide right off.

those won't slide off, the post tops are large to keep them in place. They can be pried off but its easiest to cut off. Wet the new one and press it on, water works well and leaves no residue. you can use soap but then you will have that left behind. I've seen both thick even rubber there and tapered rubber. I prefer the tapered, it seems to limit airballs.
