Just thought I'd pass along a source of this material; today I was in a Westlake Ace Hardware store and they had the black ribbed rubber mat material that is used in the floors of some cockpits and games like Battlezone on the step.

In the past Home Depot carried the stuff, but at least at our local stores, they seem to have dropped it.

Westlake Ace Hardware FTW! Or at least rubber mat.....

Any idea if this is used in pole position cockpits? I have no idea what's supposed to be in there but the one I got had the most awful looking carpet in it.

Hey! It was the 80's it should have had orange shag carpet in it (and a pair of fuzzy dice on the rear view mirror :D).

:D

And that said, it is good to know that material can still be found. Hopefully still when/if I need some for a few Atari machines I have.

It's cheap enough, I think I'll buy some just to have on the shelf.

Maybe someday my ship (game) will come in, and I'll be ready with fresh ribbed rubber mat for it! Of course the problem with this kind of logic is I've got a basement and garage stuffed full of parts for "some day".......

How about Ultra-Ribbed?:p
