I just purchased a Rowe Ami R-85 with help from the guru Ken I got it home.Just a 45 min drive. Also with alot of reading got it to work thanks to all of your blogs. It ran for about 2 hours perfectly played alot of songs.then all of a sudden the magazine just never could find a home it just spins continuesly. When it spins I notice that the home LED blinks but the index doesnt. So I shut it down for the night and this morning it fird right up played one song and started just spinning again. Also it only plays country music any help for that? LOL.....You all have been a great help thus far. This is my first juke and its been fun so far. Thanks Dan @ Silver Valley Signworks Kellogg Idaho.

I tried wiggling the plugs while it rotated wildly. It didnt work. I also noticed that the home LED on the mech Box blinked when it hit 99.But the index one didnt blink at all. Also the cancel button doesnt work when its in the service mode. Since its the weekend no place is open that has a small electronic soldering iron so I can resolder the cold joints.I didnt see any but Ill check them anyways.

Hi Dan,

On the R-85 start looking for those dry joints on the following boards:-

Power Supply printed circuit board (main problem the long connector pins)

Pricing Board (on the rear of the jukebox, it has a clear plastic cover, the main problem is the top and bottom connections, all lines of data pass through this board)

CCC, check all of the connections into and out of this board

Mechanism control, again check all of the connections on this board

Once you have checked and repaired all of the dry joints, if you still have the fault you need to check out the opto switch, do the opto switch adjustments as per your manual.

If the above does not sort out the problem you will need to send away the Mechanism Control and opto switch for testing, Bruce Wentworth is the man in the USA, if you were in the UK you could send them to me.

Keep us informed how you are getting on.

OK I found the problem. The resistor that looks like a firecracker and the onr that looks like a chicklet on the motor itself was touching ground.Repaired the board and it worked.the motors spins with out a problem.Going to send all the boards in for updates and repairs. Thanks Dan
