I picked up a few games last year and in the process of going through them I pulled out a few 4-50575-05 bill acceptor units. One worked the other didn't. I rebuilt/cleaned the other and now both of them work. They accept 1's but not the new 5 dollar bills. (Actually I guess I only tested one with the new 5, anyhow)

After a bit of searching it seems there was an upgrade available at one point so they would work with the newer 5s?

I can't find any info in google searches and only one thread here on the subject but it's basically saying that there isn't any support out there any more.

Hoping someone knows about these things. Anyone have any info on the upgrade? Sounds like it was a ROM upgrade and then a readjust to get working..

Any help appreciated.
Thanks

For OBA control box # 45057505 and # 45057501 you order upgrade kit # 27065102 which includes a new pre-programmed IC chip and a piggy back board. You will need to unsolder the original chip and install an IC socket for the new board to plug into. This upgrade allows the bill acceptor to take the new $5 bills. This was the final update to the OBA series. No further updates would be issued. Here's the kit instructions:

The parts department of Brady Distributors was where a friend bought his update kit from several years ago. Brady is now part of Player One Amusement Group:

Any Rowe distributor's parts department should have the kit. Give them the part number I mentioned. I believe Eastcoast Amusements' parts department has it as should Betson.com and Happ Controls. I understand Changemaker Corp stocks Rowe bill acceptor parts:

Remember the OBA bill acceptor system was in production for a record-breaking 40 years (1970 - 2010). There are literally a million of them out there still operating, so parts should still be available.
