Hey guys. I aquired a Rowe/AMI MMCD3 juke for $75. I don't think I did bad, but then again, I might not have done the best either lol.

Everything on it works, with the exception of the main thing. It doesn't play CDs. The amplifier works, the pages turn, the display works.

When I first plug it in, it passes tests, then says RAM ERROR 1, may need to replace CCC EEprom. then, it allows you to insert quarters, select a song, etc.

When the CD is grabbed from the 100 disc mechanism, it lays it down, spins it (slowly?) for one second, then puts the cd back. It tries again, then fails.

I'm thinking it's the CD laser assembly. Am I correct? I'm getting no other errors. Or, is the CCC faulty too? looking through the small hole on it, it says it's version 4.4

any help is appreciated as always.

First double check the memory backup battery on the Central Control Computer. It may be weak or dead. Should be a 3 volt coin cell battery.

Ken, you are ALWAYS offering help, I don't know how, but you know your stuff! thanks.
I checked it, tested for 3 volts....

I'm having a hard time even finding ANY information on this model online. it looks different than others.

Yeah, I was lucky enough to get the manuals with the machine (the seller included them)
it really doesn't tell me if it's a CCC error or a CD player error. everything works but it looks like the spindle motor is a little slow when it starts spinning.

Short of buying a new CCC or CDPro, how can I tell what's going on?
