Rowe Changer Addition to the gameroom (Free vend mod)
I've been using tokens in my gameroom and have been hunting a Rowe changer (at a low enough price!) for some time now. I finally spotted one, fellow KLOV'er Slots was the seller (very nice guy BTW) and I grabbed it. Once I got it home, cleaned up a bit, it works great and is a very cool A' la carte item in with the games.
As it is, I don't charge for games, so what to do??
I spotted Scott's video (1badv6) where he uses a lighted pushbutton on the "Out of Service" location. I wanted to try for the change return button, but it was stiff and grated, just a crappy pushbutton honestly. It did have a microswitch already installed, so there was hope! I first removed the linkage down to the coin mech (zip-tied it in for storage so it's not lost) and the button now works quietly, smooth, and returns. But press it harder and it goes right through and stays inside the machine... woops, the stop was on the linkage which I removed.
A quick hole drilled in the side and a bolt installed to provide a stop was an easy fix, this bolt is visible in the picture just above the ground connection to the microswitch.
After a quick look at the manual schematics, the test switches simply ground out the test wire, so I installed a ground on one side of the microswitch and ran a (blue) wire down to the power box. My first thought was that I would have to open the power box and connect to the switch. DO NOT do this, there is a 4 wire connector (J204) on the back of the box, these are the test switch wires!! So a quick connection from the brown/white wire run to the coin return microswitch creates the new $1.00 "test" button. With that, it's all done!
