I have a Rowe CDM3 player. Works wonderful 99% of the time. Occasionally when spinning up a CD to program or play the CD, instead of spinning the CD at its normal rate, the CD mechanism makes a awful slipping noise and tries to spin the CD too slow, too fast or even in reverse. If I touch the spindle with my finger to slow it down while spinning up the CD, it plays just fine from that point on. Almost like the spindle isn't getting enough traction on the CD. This only happens with some CDs. Any ideas?

The cork liner on the magnetic hold down is worn or possibly the whole magnetic hold down is shot. They fail all the time The cork liner is about $2 while the whole magnetic hold down is about $18. Available to purchase from the parts depart at any Rowe distributor. Get the part numbers from your manual.

Thanks once again Ken! For now I cut a donut the same size as the cork out of a thin non-slip mat and cemented it onto the magnetic hub. Works perfect. But I'll order a new hub w/ cork from a supplier.
