Hello,

Just bought a rowe CD100c and I have no sound. Tested capacitors on amp and one is testing bad. Part # 21823102 electrolytic capacitor 10000 mfd. Does anyone know where I can order this part and what # it is in say mouser ? Also if anyone knows the bridge rectifier 21822501. Thanks for your help.

Or is the best thing to go thru a rowe dist ?

Does anyone have a spare Amp..they would like to sell ?

You have no sound at all? Generally, you should have SOME sound output. If your amp is bad, usually the jukebox will sound like crap, but it will make noise. Is your amp powered on? Make sure both RCA's are connected to both the amp and the CD mech board. Also, check the amp itself. On the backside (the side that is closest to the wall when the amp is mounted), there are the two preamp boards, one for each channel. The have two fuses apiece on them. Check those, if they are blown, then most likely you have anywhere from one to four blown driver transistors (they're mounted on the big heat sink). I don't recall the numbers offhand, but they are still available. Replace those, and you should be good to go.

Barring that, I'd say if you can, check your amp on another machine, and see if it is good or not, and then go from there.

If the volume control is not connected there will be no sound.

Sound system troubleshooting is in the manual set.

If the bridge rectifier were bad by being open, you'd have massive hum. If it were shorted you'd blow a fuse or breaker.

That big capacitor if open would make your sound awful. I have not seen any of those short circuit though. Usually they go open circuit.

Your amplifier should have a 13 pin flat white jumper connector plugged in or you won't have sound either.

Don't forget the amplifier's single orange wire that plugs into the preamp board. That's the MUTE wire. Make sure it's plugged in.

CD100C Tech Question

New B to CD100C scene.. gotta question in line with CD100C?

Have a Rowe CD100C Jukebox that's displaying Board Error on main computer and Mech board. I've powered off and unseat and reseated all connection to both boards, but still getting board error message. I know something is wrong since the Mechanism that spins the CDs don't spin around a couple time at power on. Any helpful suggestions?

First is to make sure all 3 LED's are lit on the power transformer (power supply) module.

If they are then get out your manual and go into the test menu. What do the logged errors say on the display? There could be more than one error too.

Bennie75: The early Rowe models had a problem with some of the power wiring being too small, usually resulting in it showing what I think was a 62 error. The player would stop, then run okay for a while after a restart. Cleaning the plug contacts and using one of the products that improve conductivity might help, but the ultimate solution was to parallel the brown 8 volt DC power wire from the CCC to the service switch, from the service switch to the CD controller, and add a parallel ground from the CD controller back to the power supply. Check the voltage at the CD controller while it is playing, I think the brown wire is the positive, black should be ground. The plug has about 8 wires in it, IIRC. This voltage needs to be something like 7.8 DC. Anything lower is going to cause a problem. I have a modified wiring diagram somewhere, so if that voltage is low I can dig it out for you. I got this wiring info straight from an engineer at Rowe years ago and did the mods on models A and B, and solved the problem.
