I have had two Rowe CD100 D jukeboxes go down within the last two days. Symptoms are title pages will not turn, credits are being added without any dollars put in (lots of them), and it will not play certain songs.

CCC errors include 14-05 which is "Ram checksum error". About a third of the CD's were initialized instead of 100. I did not see a 14-04 which is "defaults have been loaded".

All of my boxes have had the CCC pcb's updated and I'm running version 4.3 software. I found the backup battery to have 3.6 volts, and the power supplies have been rebuilt with the latest updates.

The fix was to replace the CCC with a spare of course.

Has anyone had any of these issues? I found it very odd to have two identical systems go down within two days and have exactly the same issues.

Thanks for any input.

Have you tried "Clear errors" in the the menu (#81) ?

If you clear the errors, does the same problem re-occur?

If so, the chip at U12 (PAL 18P8-CDCCC) may have gone corrupt and must be replaced. This is a chip you can only buy from Rowe distributor's parts departments. It is a chip that's custom programmed at the Rowe factory.

Ken,

I just replaced the CCC to get the location going. I'll do a factory reload to the CCC in a spare box at the shop and test it. I have not cleared the errors yet (81). Never heard of this chip failing.

Thanks for the advise.

Ken........after reloading defaults, both CCC's have run perfect in spare boxes for about a week. Not sure I will ever find out what caused the error.

I have seen reports over the years where sometimes you'd have to reload the defaults TWICE to correct errors.

If your boards are running ok now that's all that counts.
