Had a customer call about a problematic stacker in a Rowe CD-100. He says that it sometimes gives credits, but most of the time either spits it back out, or the bill gets wadded up in the space between the mechanism and the stacker box - and doesn't give credits when this happens. Apparently it has problems the majority of the time.

The game is in a commercial setting, and was working fine last week.

Any thoughts as to cause, or what to look at? I have not yet seen the machine, but would prefer to not charge a service call to just head out there and look and not fix it.

Thanks...

the belts may be worn or broke or somthing is stuck in there. trash, wrapper, torn bill part.
You can try one of the cleaning cards that happ and most vending places sell to run through the acceptor and attempt to clean the belts with. I have them in stock in Arlington.
That only works sometimes. You can run the acceptor with the stacker box open so you can watch the bill move and the belts turn. Just be careful that if it accepts the bill and goes to stack it, that your fingers are not near it as it can bite.

The stacker box must be closed and locked or the bill can wad up as it exits the bill acceptor head.

The OBA bill acceptor itself (not the stacker) is probably due for an overhaul with a good cleaning and replacement of all belts.

I just overhauled one yesterday.
