Just picked up this rowe bc-35 from a business that closed down for 100 bucks its in pretty good shape. I haven't got to go into it but does not appear to power on but is complete. It also has a bill validator in it that is a MEI?? What's a good validator to get it up and running for current bills.

many of those were converted to Mars or MEI validators. we ran all the Rowe BC-1400/3500 changers in my family's business with the Rowe validators, they were a bit much to maintain but I kept them alive. I don't remember much about the power centers on those, but check obvious things like the power cord is connected or there aren't any blown fuses. if there is a blown fuse I would inspect the power center to make sure nothing exploded. I haven't worked on one of these in over 10 years, so I don't remember much else. :(

the BC-3500 was the more modern replacement to the BC-35, I think maybe the power centers are the same but the control boards are not. I also may have the terminology for the parts wrong lol

Best change machine. Its a real work horse.

Mine has the original bill validator, the Mars DBA are great but the look of the original looks great.

Looks like your has an older controler, mine has a read out screen. Or maybe that's part of the Mars update kit...

Either way a great pick up.

The 3500 has the digital display on the computer. I just may stick an original rowe validator in there cause the look as well but do they read newer bills?

Mine has the updated rom that takes all the new bills. Though I guess it's pretty uncommon.

Okay can you give me a source to purchase?
probably a distributor. there's a Betson in Dallas.

and yes that was the point of emphasis in me differentiating the 35 and 3500. I did have a BC-12, I wound up abandoning it back home though. had the dipswitch board but with a Mars validator.

I often wondered what the deal was with the 35 vs 3500 difference.

I don't know where the updated ROM came from, I got my 3500 from a carwash tech who went through it and replaced all the belts in the validator and made sure the controller had the latest bill rom.

Ok so i am looking for a cheap manual for one of these. As of now it don't power up and trips my gfci in my garage after about 2-3 minutes after being plugged in. Are there any line fuses?

you'll need to open the big metal power supply box. it's pretty heavy that I remember. once again, been a hundred years and thousands of missions ago for me lol

it doesn't appear to have fuses, but rather circuit breakers for the individual power lines. so your problem has to be where the 120V AC is coming in. I don't remember what's inside, if you open it and post pictures I could probably help more.

I just picked up a similar unit and am trying to figure out how to program the computer control center with dip switches so that it can dispense for $1 and $5 in quarters. I have filled each hopper with quarters but am clueless how to program the switches and not sure what the MC on the right of the switches mean?

Does anyone know how to adjust the dip switches to accomplish what I am looking to do?

Thanks!

So I dont recognize that computer but they were great change machines the hoppers even in the newer versions were the exact same because they worked great almost never broke. I think its upgradeable because Ive seen bc35s with the newer rowe computer that had a read out and a dashing line across the read out meant it was working and good. I still have 2 bc1200s on my route with kits to use a MEI validator, the rowe validator was ok at the time for what it was but the reliability was not very good and cant be trusted for like busy pool halls etc.

These are the guys you need to contact about they have upgrade kits, all the parts, even the rom to update the rowe BA to accept new 5$ and i have an extra brand new 5$ rom too i dont need id sell for cheap bought from them. You didnt need it if you used the mei kit only for the rowe BA

Just check there site out and you will see. Cheers.

Specifically for your model even that show many rowe changers were still out there, these are the go to guys for all change machines.

Check out their dollar bill changer kit section too, if you wanted you could even make it into a modern American Changer lol. But they have rowe update kits too.
