Have a chance to pick one up tonight, I think the central control board is bad, works everywhere otherwise I believe, worth it?

Hey Ken, the thing powers up, lights good, power good, amp is buzzing/hum. Record spins, no sound and it wont actuate on the arm or allow a switch, think the computer is bad. How do I test that chip? I pulled the board, pulled the gross foam off the back, no acid damage, but its just a big IC chip, how do I know if its bad....

First thing to do is inspect the CCC board, mech control board, and power supply board for cold solder joints at all the connector headers. These are well known for many cold solder joints.

Check the battery voltage in the CCC to see if it's weak/dead.

I'd run a soldiering iron over all the connector posts just to be sure.
Ken is right, these are usually the only problem you'll encounter with these machines.

The foam pad on the back of the ccc was shit, I cleaned it best I could and desoldered all the pins, resoldering now, several cold joints, you guys were right.. Question, can I use simple green to clean the pcb residue? or anything special?
