Rowe/AMI MM5 pulling the wrong record

Hello,

You need to check that the Stop plate assemby is in the correct place when at the A1 position. The Stop Plate is marked with a 200 mark, if you check in your manual you will see where this should line up.

If this is correct you will have to check that the Search Unit is pushing out the correct pins. I usually test all the A sides by going up a letter and a number i.e. A1 C2 E3 etc.
It is best to test the search unit off of the mechanism so you can see all the pins being pushed out.

If the search unit is out of alignment then again consult your manual for the correct adjustment.

My friend is having a similar problem with his MM5. But his either selects the one before or after. I'm going out to his place to have a look. What should I look for? Same as previous post? Or maybe something different?

you dont need to remove the mech....just the search unit. Remove the long plug on the right side...remove the clear plastic cover, there are 3 bolts that hold the unit on the mech that you need to remove then you can pull the unit out and you should have more than enough slack in the cable to plug the connector back on the search unit and watch it push the pins as you make your selections.

I concur regarding the above message. Good advice.

When you do the testing pick the standard Ami test A1, C2, E3, etc followed by B1, D2, F3 etc (up a letter and a number with each selection) this tests all the switches on the keyboard.

Silly question, but

Is the magazine fully loaded with records? I had the same problem with my R-84, and magazine wasn't full, so it wasn't balanced. It would play 1 or 2 before or 1 or 2 after the selected record. Just a thought.
