I have this new Candy Neo 19 machine and the picture is a little turned. I believe the monitor is a Hitachi GMK-19FSN.

as you can see the picture has turned ever so slightly counter clockwise.
I can't access the monitor from the back and may have to pull it from the front/top.

Any one have experience aligning the yoke on japanese monitor tubes like this? I'd like to do some research before attempting this. So what typically holds the hoke on a tube anyways? Is it the clamp for the convergence rings?

Thanks

No. The yoke usually has it's own clamp. Granted, this isn't always the case (some 70's era Zenith television sets had their yokes and convergence rings as one assembly), but generally speaking, there will be an independent clamp for the yoke.

Assuming the yoke got jostled over the years, you might not have to loosen anything, just gently try to rotate it and see if it moves. The rubber wedges might have come loose too.

Some newer digital monitors have the ability to rotate the picture from a menu control. I haven't personally seen this on an arcade monitor, but it's there on high end computer monitors. If this monitor has digital controls, it might be worth investigating that first.

Note that some tubes have a bonded yoke. There should be a warning on the back of the tube saying something to this effect, if this is the case. Don't try to move a bonded yoke.

That slant is really slight. It could have been there from day one. Mark everything before you start, in case you accidentally bump the convergence rings, or if you get the yoke too far out of whack, as that can affect convergence too.

On my k7000 I just loosened the clamp, rotated a few degrees, re-tightened the clamp. Viola!

thanks, it's slight but still shows about 1/4" on one side compared to the other so you have to cut the distance and show some black space on at least 2 corners. For someone like me, it's an eye sore. I'd like to fix it if possible.

Now if I can only find a FL-15D bulb, I'll be able to get the header lite. The stupid hood has 3 frozen screws still so I ahve the option of forcing it and replacing all of them or living with no light...
