Haven't a clue so figured I would ask here. What is the difference between a LS-40 8 way optical rotary joystick (SNK Touchdown Fever) and a Loop-24 8 way optical rotary joystick (Cal. 50 - Romstar)? I have read that the Loop-24 has a 4 pin connector that connects directly to the board, but would the other model (LS-40) work in a Loop-24 machine? Hopefully that makes sense.

Cal .50 has the pinout for the Loop-24 joysticks in the manual. Touchdown fever does not have the pinout for the LS40, however, it's described as an LS40 - 24 joystick. I would presume that it's the same. One way to confirm is to verify the voltage is at the same place, at least then, you wouldn't blow something by accident when trying it out.
