ROMS from China?

chinese stuff is very tough to get quality or at least consistent quality that isn't a fake or a restamp and they call them new. i have the 2716 chips that are completely machine refurbished (cleaned, erased, verified, and straightened and guaranteed.
https://www.arcadepartsandrepair.com/store/integrated-circuits/2716-eprom/

the 2716 chip i am not aware of any company that has made them new in many many years and the only NOS one out there i have are the 2764's.

I really need some ROMS for my Asteroids, and also for my VIC-20 Do I buy used old stuff for too high prices off ebay, or do I go for the new chinese stuff? Are they any good?

0715 date code.. HAH ! They could at least remark the stuff with a believable code.

This shit from China is usually fake remarks, there's a good chance it's an EPROM, there's a good chance if you order 100 of them there'll be a couple of real ones in there. Usually.. they only remark one side, so if you turn them over you can sometimes get an idea of what the part really was.

Get a high score save kit and you don't need all the ROMs.
You also get some bonus features and perhaps increase the reliability of your game.

To be honest, im pretty tired of spending a lot of time in a great online store for cool stuff and when Im ready to check out they eighter wont send to Norway, the shipping is a flat rate 65$ for even a small item or that my local customs office charge me a fortune because the ¤#"&% who sold it figured it was a good idea to set a hight value for insurance purpose. The dudes from China usually mark as gift and a low value :D

For the save kit, I dont find anywhere on the page that you dont need the roms anymore? Just that they include a v2 vector rom. One of my PCBs lacks both the CPU and all the ROMS. (bought as working, no warranty off ebay) Im now the proud owner of 3 non working PCBs for my Cab, and I have stopped buying "working" PCBs off ebay. Its time to try and fix at least one of them.

Well, you haven't dealt with me then... ;)
I always take care of my oversea friends!
Plus, if it makes you feel better, I have them on ebay too.

Let me know if you need any help with a kit.

And guys, thank you for the recommendation! :)

This kit has been out for years. I thought it was common knowledge that the BRAZE kits are also ROM SAVERS.

If you go to the high score webpage, and click on more detailed info it will take you here ->

"As a side note, if you want, you can also remove the old code eproms."

Nice that the kit includes V2.

I've had some success ordering from China - as others have said they aren't new but chips pulled, erased and cleaned. If the seller is saying they are new, they could be fakes - check the date code. Always be absolutely sure that your Eprom programmer supports the exact manufacturer and model of Eprom being sold.

Thanks guys! Maybe there are some shops I can use after all!

I will definately consider a save kit, but first Im gonna focus on getting my game up and running. I might even consider the save kit for my Donkey Kong cabs.

I use the chinese Minipro TL866A USB programmer. For some reason I always need to disable the "check ID" to be able to read my roms. Could that be because they are fakes?

What he is saying is the save kit allows you to completely remove the roms in the picture below, since they are no longer needed. If these are the ones you are talking about then just get a kit. Pic from Braze's site.

Fakes, mislabeled, or you are selecting the wrong device name.
