I want to pick up a rom reader/writer so I can figure out if rom chips
on the boards I have checksum correctly and write new ones if necessary to
replace them.

Can anyone recommend a good reader/writer that will work with (ideally all)
chips used in arcade boards from the 70's/80s?

Thanks,

If you have a large budget then I'd recommend a ChipMax 2 or TopMax 2 from eeTools.com. They both do a VERY large variety of chips - especially the TopMax 2 which will do some of the old PLA chips, fuse link PROMs, PLDs, and more. But it's not cheap!

Just got this one in today. Working on getting it all hooked up and running.

I guess I'll find out how good it really is.
