Anyone else think it would be cool to have ROMs that have full audio in attract mode so that it sounds like you are in a full arcade even when you are playing by yourself in your gameroom? Has this been done before?

Many games' PCBs have a dip switch that determines whether or not audio is on in attract mode. My Kicker (Konami) does. Donkey Kong has it as well I believe, at least the cocktail board set does. Check the manuals for your games.

Seems to me I've seen a ROM hack for Pacman/Ms Pacman around that allows freeplay while still allowing it to stay in attract mode, I don't know if there's sound.

There definitely is. I haven't seen one that has the sound play during free play though.
I belive most of the high scores savers and free play kits have them in it.
Really ? How about the Nintendo games , like DK , DK Jr , MB .
I know DK has it becouse i have it on on mine. DKJR Has it Look on Arcadeshop lists it shows that if it can be done.
It's regular game play sound. When it shows a simulated game, you get the sounds of the game. You can control how often you actually get the sounds. Something like 12% of the time, 25%, 50%, 100% (or never).
Cool , someone should post a video .
