I'm a n00b to the whole rom burning business. I have a Championship Sprint that I am pretty positive is missing one of the music roms which is keeping that part of the sound from working. Is it possible to burn and replace it? Where does someone get the file to burn? Or are there places that sell specific pieces of boards?

Details:
ROM 8J/K YM3012 on the CPU board (not the video board)

That is a Digital to Analog converter. There is no rom image for that chip. If it is bad or missing, you just need to replace it with a new one.

Not all of the chips on a board are roms, in fact relatively few are. Most are logic, ram, and a CPU (or a few CPUs sometimes)

Yep I would say that's a good start as to why your sound isn't working.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The YM3012, aka DAC-MS, is a floating point digital-to-analog converter chip developed by Yamaha. It generates stereo analog output (16-bit dynamic range) from dual serial input, the sound data containing a 10-bit mantissa and 3-bit exponent. It was notably used alongside the YM2151.
