Hey everyone, need a little help, I am trying to burn new roms for a data east back to the future pinball, however no matter which files I use online none of them seem to work, I don't know if it's the files or the chips I am using
I am using two AT29C256 which is supposed to be an alternative for the 27C256, am I using the wrong chips or using the wrong files?
My programmer is a TL866ii plus

This thread is a month old. Did you ever figure this out?
It looks to me, the 29c256 should be compatible, although I've never tried one.
Where did you get the files you're trying to burn? I checked the ones on ipdb.org and they should be valid. Don't use the MAME roms
What settings are you using in your programmer? Are you setting it to binary and not Intel Hex?

What programmer are you using and what speed are you using? On my burner, 27xxx EPROMs don't always burner with faster speeds.

i have found some of these newer chips on paper look the same,
but our games draw/pull more power than these newer chips can deliver.
had problems with an AT28C16 that would run in nearly 75% of PCB's,
found a few boards they just would not run the system, yet i could erase the chip, program for another game board & they work,
go back to the 27xx chip in problem boards, and the system will run happy.

Bottom line is you must check the datasheets of interchange chips you want to use, to see if the current from Address & Data lines are good
