Hey guys I am going to be buying a board with a bad Eprom chip. I figure now is the time to invest in an ROM burner. Not only would I be able to fix the board with but I could use it to covert my Baywatch sound roms to the American version and I could also upgrade my MK pcb's to whatever revision or hack version that I wanted to.
Now I did some searching on here and found a post on ROM burners and lots of people in there stated the GQ-4x was a good burner. I noticed this website offers two different versions of that burner, the light pack and the full pack. http://www.mcumall.com/comersus/store/comersus_dynamicIndex.asp
Any ideas on the difference between the two? Basically I just want something that I will be able to convert or change different versions of MK like upgrading to a juggernaut hack or changing to revision 3.0 ect. I have no idea what all chips the MK boards use and therefore I am not sure which one of these I would need to get. Looking at the website and what each includes is like trying to decipher a foreign language to me. Can anyone help me with this? It looks like you would need some kind of chip adaptors to use these burners as there is a large opening for many pins and I do know that the ROM and Eprom chips are smaller than that.
