I have a Sky Jump EM just picked up and some of the rollovers cause the game to go into tilt. What happened is that one of the fuses blew and after replacing it the rollovers like for 4 and 7 cause the game to go into tilt. It doesnt look like the tilt relay is being triggered but the game stops. Any reason why come rollovers would cause that?

Thanks!!

Are one of the rollovers "stuck" closed?

I had a very similar problem on an older pinball machine where a switch that got stuck closed caused the machine to appear to tilt. The second I launched a ball, it just went dead as if tilted, just due to that stuck switch.

Have you continuity tested the rollover switch to the tilt switches or relay? I've had a short in the wires before that triggered something similar to this.

BTW, this is my first pinball and first EM game. wasn't sure if I would like it since its a slow old EM game but actually, its pretty fun and great ruleset. Wife and kids love it.

Now off to replace the 80 or so bulbs :(

Yep, it was stuck rollovers. Going through all of them with a continuity check.

Thanks!!!

Awesome, glad to help. I know I was scratching my head when I had the similar problem.

I had the same experience with an older pinball. They can still be fun and have interesting rulesets.

Just a guess but it sounds like the rollover switch was stuck closed which engaged that particular score relay in the backbox (10/100/1000) so when you did everything else, nothing happened because the relay was stuck on. if you just open up those switches you'll be OK and if the game works and scores properly now you don't need to check the other ones.

What's nice about an EM is if the game scores properly (10/100/1000) none of the switches on the playfield are stuck closed.

Sorry posting with Tapatalk so I can't edit my post

Unfortunately you can't check switches with a multimeter because the game runs on AC most of the time and the circuits go through the transformer which would give erroneous readings. If you have a short that's not easy to find, you really have to start disconnecting things to see where the short is. In this case, you knew where the short was because of the rollover switch.
