Rolling Stone Cab pics now out!

No Bill Wyman, Brian Jones, or Mick Taylor? I guess it's only featuring current members.

Stern gets most of their art assets from the licensor. If Disney supplies them w/ cool stuff, Tron will look cool. They're also experimenting w/ EL Wire, so if that's all over the playfield, it'll look SUPER cool. I can already tell you the playfield design looks really promising on Tron...more like a Steve Ritchie game with tons of flow, combos, and 3 flippers.

Hoping its "Super Cool" have $ in the bank waiting to see if I get to spend it on a NIB Tron. LOL

It isn't like I hate Stern, loved the DE stuff.

Ugly as sin; 3 of them look like they're dying.

We'll see how it plays; Stern has a mixed track record in my eyes.

Where have you seen the Tron layout? Can you pass it on to me?

Someone who shall remain nameless emailed me a photo of the TRON pf drawing and as Rarehero pointed out - it has MAJOR promise. Out of respect for this person I will not share the photo please do not ask.
Stern has a very high possibility of releasing a machine that could easily join the (A-list). Stern has had me uninspired for many years now, but this machine has me willing to buy NIB for the first time in life.

Back on topic (sorry), that tongue looks like it'll need a Cliffy protector lol.

I don't know a thing about this pinball machine but I think a game that covers the whole band's career would be the best approach, not the band as it looks now (old men). Start out in the early 1960s and end with a wizard mode with the band today or in the future.

There's so much history to this group and having it feature the band as it looks and sounds now seems like a mistake.

Like I said before, if they want to bring new people in, they need to make a Taylor Swift machine, or a machine based on Facebook.

Several years ago the LA Weekly did a feature article about the young women hired to act as groupies for Mick Jagger at his personal appearances for his solo album. Yes, Mick Jagger has paid fans...Most of them didn't know who he was and had only the vaguest idea of who the Rolling Stones are.

LOL ...."bring new people in" ...that's not Stern's job, the state of the arcade is DEAD. Who buys pinball machines? Guys in their 30's-50's. You think teenagers are going to buy a Facebook pinball machine!??!!? ...or if they saw one, play it? BTW - that theme blows my mind...I hope it was a joke. How the fuck do you make a game out of that?!

Rolling Stones will be purchased by music fans/collectors, it's the type of machine that can go in a bar or bowling alley....that's what pinball is now. It is what it is. Home buyers. Bars. Bowling Alleys. Movie Theaters. The occasional stand-alone arcade (if any still exist). Teen themes won't "bring new people in"

BTW - since people have been bashing the Stones for the past few weeks, almost every day I see or hear something Stones related. Last night on Peirs Morgan's CNN show, Howard Stern said "The Rolling Stones are the greatest rock band of all time" ...I bet Howard will buy a Rolling Stones pin!!!! He's got a T3! ;)

Pinball is dead then. No new players = might as well just pack it in.

The arcade is dead. Somehow Stern is squeeking by w/ new machines...you guys may scoff at the Stones as a theme....but FACEBOOK!?!?!?!? I'm glad none of you work for Stern...lol.

BTW- in the places that DO have pinball...kids WILL play Avatar, Iron Man, Big Buck Hunter....you don't need pandering "teen" themes to get people to play.

Yeah... facebook is a pretty crappy theme idea as well IMHO. That said, The Stones as a theme just sucks. I've already pointed out why, no need to re-hash. And why are all Stern games of late looking similar as far as layout is concerned.

A whole boat-load of crap the shoot at vertically up top but very little side-to-side action... very little... originality.

1.) They're on the cusp. Cheaper = survival
2.) "Bringing new people in" ...most people don't 'get' pinball...so they've gone w/ simpler design, but w/ rewarding software for the experienced player....hardcores have bitched about this...but it's worked out. BBH, Iron Man, and Avatar have sold well and kept them chuggin'.
3.) No one bitches about Attack from Mars....expensive A-game. EVERYTHING's up a the top...c'mon! ;)

A Facebook themed machine would be possible but I think it would need to be linked to the internet and have some kind of social networking theme. Something could be dreamed up. It would require some major out of the box thinking by the design team and some new approaches. Would it be successful....

Officially the worst idea of all time ever. :)

the arcade may be dead in your town, but the same arcades I played in 30 years ago are still going strong all along the nj coast. they are now mostly redemption games, driving games or shooting games, and skee ball. the few pins that are out there are almost always in use.

our favorite arcade has 4 pins, indy, sopranos, addams family and something else. they still get a lot of play from young and old. last time we were there two old ladies bogarted all four pins, their fat asses made it so you could not play the machine next to them.

.

Hey Friz - have you played any of the newer Sterns? I was super skeptical about Iron Man due to the "cost-cutting" ....but looking at something and playing something are two different beasts. In my opinion, Stern has been able to make simpler games but are amazingly fun, challenging, and addicting. The flow, speed, kickback, and magnets - not to mention awesome use of shaker motor and audio package - make Iron Man SUPER fun. I found the same addictive quality in Avatar - which, by the way...doesn't look similar to Iron Man. 1 ramp vs. 2, a motorized target bank in front of the AMP suit, the link lock w/ the two bars that come from under the playfield, making it a captive ball....and the Eywa captive ball.

I think those two games have accomplished a lot w/ less, and I find them more fun and addicting than some more complexly designed games. Of course I love complex games, too...and if Stern's games played poorly or were boring, I'd totally call them on it...in fact, I have (Stern Indiana Jones....zzzzzzz). If you can - play, then judge.

Stones definitely looks more generic in terms of its fan layout, and conceptually I think the Mick-track bash toy is just kind of stupid....but I'd have to play it to truly judge. A friend of mine played it and he said he was really fun, and he didn't expect it to be. I don't plan on buying one....and I doubt most of the people bashing it would ever buy a NIB pinball anyway, even if it was awesome.
