This is a microprocessor for a jukebox that is no longer in production, no replacements of it, etc.. I have some NOS chips of them available, will they work in the jukebox as drop-in replacements since all the numbers match up, or is this something that needs to be programmed? I'm confused if this has some kind of programmed memory on it like an EPROM or it's more like a CPU/RAM

The R6500/1 chips contain 2KB of factory-programmed mask ROM. They cannot be reprogrammed and unless the chips were manufactured specifically for the jukebox in question, they won't work as replacements.

Which jukebox is this?

Thanks. The Rowe R-86. There's a replacement mod out there but I'm cheap and like originality. I guess I'll go for it now, though. :)
